Melbourne's rooftop bar scene is genuinely one of the best we've seen anywhere. Unlike Sydney, the rooftop bars are scattered across CBD and inner suburbs — you can bar-hop between them on foot. We did exactly that last time and hit four in one arvo.

Melbourne's original rooftop bar. Lift to level 6, past the cookie shop and cinema, onto an open-air rooftop with string lights. Feels like a backyard party 6 floors up.
Goldilocks
VIEWSLevel 2, 264 Swanston St, CBD
Rooftop garden bar. Fairy lights, potted plants, timber decking. Excellent natural wines. One of the few rooftops with genuinely good food (wood-fired pizzas).

- Weekday lunches. Many serve lunch with zero crowd. Best-kept secret.
